For two generations, the Dumitriu family of architects has been drawing and building light fittings in Bucharest. The story begins in 1966 with a sketch — and continues today, in the F.D.Stil workshop, with the same pencils, the same brass and the same patience.

Six decades strung on the same brass wire — from the first sketch shown at the Biennale to the 2025 Union of Romanian Architects prize.
At the Decorative Arts Biennale, architect Florian Dumitriu exhibits his first custom-made light fittings. The jury chooses his design to represent Romanian decorative arts.
He becomes a member of the Union of Fine Artists and, together with a group of artists, creates the monumental chandeliers of the National Theatre in Bucharest.
For the restoration of the Sinaia Casino he starts Romania's first production of crystal chandelier components. The work receives the Union of Architects prize.
He designs the light fittings of the Peleș, Pelișor, Foișor and Ghica palaces, of Romania's embassies in Germany, Brazil, Greece and China, then of the Cotroceni Palace and the House of the Republic. All the while he campaigns for the recognition of the designer profession in Romania.
Florian Dumitriu founds his own lighting factory in Bucharest. Five years later his son, architect Dan Dumitriu, takes over — the second generation.
The workshop designs and makes the chandeliers for the unfinished spaces of the Palace of Parliament — among them the Senate Hall, one of the building's most beautiful rooms — then the official salons of the Romanian Senate.
On the facade of the D&D — Decoration & Design building, the landmark of Manhattan's design community, solid brass lamp posts drawn and made in the workshop are installed.
For the headquarters of the National Bank of Romania — a 19th-century French Renaissance building — the workshop designs and makes dozens of monumental brass and crystal chandeliers and sconces.
After a long collaboration, Swarovski grants the workshop its „recommended partner” distinction. One-of-a-kind FD.Stil chandeliers light museums, historic monuments and residences across Europe.
LED solutions bring the workshop into the offices of international companies: custom-made lighting carrying each firm's identity — from IBM and Orange to Electronic Arts.
For the Art Nouveau chandeliers of the restored Casino, the workshop crafts, one by one, over 650 opal glass petals. The work receives the 2025 Union of Romanian Architects Prize.
35 years of workshop, 2,788 delivered projects — and the same rule since day one: every piece is drawn, cast and finished under the same roof.
Design and production are never separated: every component — cast brass, glass, crystal, lampshades — is made in-house, after our own drawings.
Since 2001 every order has been tracked through our own system, from design phase to delivery — so nothing gets lost between the sketch and the lit piece.
Our pieces can be repaired decades later: we provide service and spare parts even for one-of-a-kind chandeliers.
The workshop's best argument is not a photograph — it is the piece in front of you.
