Which bulb fits an FD.STIL piece

The cap is the part that screws or pushes into the fitting — not the bulb itself. The letter gives the type of fixing, the number gives the size in millimetres: E14 means a 14 mm screw thread, E27 a 27 mm thread, G9 two pins 9 mm apart. You can switch between technologies at any time — incandescent, halogen or LED — as long as the cap is the same and the wattage does not exceed the maximum for the piece.

The wattage in the table is the maximum per bulb the piece allows, not a recommended consumption. With LED bulbs the real consumption is 6-8 times lower for the same light.

How to choose the bulb

• Do not exceed the maximum wattage. It is the fitting's thermal limit, not a suggestion. A bulb stronger than the maximum ages the finish and the insulation prematurely.
• The colour of the light. For brass and crystal, warm light (2700 K) renders the material best. Above 3500 K, brass looks grey.
• Dimmer. If the piece goes on a dimmer, the bulbs must be explicitly dimmable — not all LEDs are.
• The same source throughout. In a chandelier with many arms, bulbs from different batches or brands give visibly different tones. Buy them all at once, with a few spares.
• The shape of the bulb matters. On open arms the bulb is visible: choose a candle shape for classic pieces and a capsule for modern ones.
