Lighting Throughout the Rest of the Home
The entrance hall
The entrance creates the first impression of your home. It should be welcoming, with generous ambient lighting that greets guests and naturally guides them into the interior. A ceiling light or pendant provides the main illumination, while a pair of wall lights positioned on either side of the entrance mirror adds both practical light and an elegant finishing touch.
Hallways
For comfort and safety, hallways should have a light source approximately every 2.5-3 metres. There are many suitable options, including ceiling lights, wall lights, track lighting, and concealed lighting. Track-mounted spotlights are particularly effective if the hallway displays artwork or family photographs, illuminating both the circulation space and the collection itself.
Staircases
A staircase should be illuminated along its entire length to ensure safe movement, with light switches located at both the top and bottom of the stairs. Where the lighting from adjacent spaces is insufficient, pendant lights can be installed above each flight, providing both functional illumination and an elegant architectural feature.
Utility areas
Pantries, laundry rooms, and garages require bright, evenly distributed ambient lighting. LED luminaires with a warm colour temperature create comfortable, welcoming spaces that are pleasant to use while remaining highly practical.
