Chandelier restoration

We are a manufacturing workshop, not a repair shop. A broken arm is cast again, a shattered crystal is blown to the original model, a part that “can’t be found anywhere” gets made. We regularly work on fixtures that were not made by us.

Send photos on WhatsApp for an assessment

One photo of the whole fixture and one of the damaged area. We’ll tell you within 1–2 working days whether it can be repaired and what it costs. Or call 0790 360 000.

Why a workshop, and not a repair shop

An ordinary repair shop usually handles cleaning, small repairs and the replacement of electrical components. When a missing part has to be remade, a manufacturing workshop is required. A broken brass arm or a shattered piece of blown glass has to be made again — and that calls for a foundry, dies, a glassblower and someone who can read an old profile. We have been making chandeliers for over thirty years, so we have all of it in house.

For pieces that left our workshop we keep the moulds and the working drawings, so an element can be remade identically even twenty years later. Since 2000 we also keep the complete production archive: for every piece we know which material was used and who made it. That is why a part added years later comes out identical, not approximate.

For fixtures made elsewhere, we start from the surviving fragment, from a photograph or from a survey taken on site — and reconstruct.

What we remake

Brass arms and frames

Broken, bent or missing arms — cast and straightened again. We also remake rosettes, canopies, stems and chains.

Crystal and glass

Prisms, pendeloques, crystal arms and blown-glass elements — completed or remade to the original model.

Finishes

Polishing, patina, nickel, chrome, gilding. We bring back the original finish or change the register entirely.

Electrical wiring

Complete rewiring, new lampholders, compliance with current standards — including conversion to LED.

Deep cleaning

Dismantling, washing and inspection of every component — entirely in the workshop, not through superficial work on site.

Reconstruction to a historical model

When the original is lost: a survey, a working drawing and a new piece, made in the spirit of the building.

If the fixture also has fabric shades, those are remade in our lampshade workshop: lampshade reconditioning.

How it works

Photos

Send us the whole fixture and the damaged areas on WhatsApp. We’ll tell you within 1–2 days whether it can be done and what it costs.

Assessment

For large works or fixtures mounted high up we come on site and take the survey.

Dismantling

We dismantle and transport the piece ourselves, properly packed, or you bring it to the workshop.

Workshop

Casting, glass, finishing, wiring. We send photos along the way so you can see where things stand.

Reinstallation

We reinstall the fixture and put it back into service. For pieces we have remade, long-term servicing still applies.

From the same workshop, for heritage buildings

The lighting fixtures designed and made here are installed in some of the most important buildings in Romania. These are not restoration works — they are new pieces, made for those buildings. We show them for one reason only: the standard demanded there is the same one applied to your chandelier.

For the Art Nouveau chandeliers of the Constanța Casino and for the crystal components of the Sinaia Casino, the workshop received the Union of Architects Award — in 2025 and 1977 respectively. Both are awards for original design: the fixtures were designed and made from scratch for buildings that were undergoing restoration.

Frequently asked questions

Should the chandelier be taken down before building work starts?

Yes, and as early as possible. Covering it with sheeting does not help: fine sanding dust and splashes of lime or paint get underneath, settle between the crystals and in the joints, while sheeting left on for months traps moisture inside. A chandelier left in place for the duration of a building site almost always turns into a bigger, longer and more expensive job than taking it down in time would have been. We dismantle it, keep it packed in the workshop and reinstall it clean at the end.

Do you also restore chandeliers you did not make?

Yes, it is a routine part of the workshop’s activity. It does not matter who made it or where it came from — what matters is whether the piece can still be saved, and we can see that from photos.

An arm broke and I cannot find the part anywhere. Can it be solved?

Yes. This is exactly where a manufacturing workshop differs from a repair shop: the arm does not need to be found, it needs to be cast again from an existing one. If no intact arm survives, we reconstruct it from photographs.

Some crystals are missing. Can they be matched exactly?

In most cases yes. We work with Bohemia and Swarovski crystal and keep an archive of shapes; if it is an unusual piece, we remake it to the model.

How long does a restoration take?

A full cleaning with an electrical overhaul takes about a week. Work involving newly cast parts or blown glass runs to three–six weeks, depending on how many elements have to be made. We work exclusively by dismantling and bringing the fixture to the workshop — we do not take on work carried out on site, on the installed fixture.

Do you come and take the chandelier down?

Yes, in Bucharest and Ilfov. For fixtures mounted high up or for very heavy pieces we come with the team and the right packing — a crystal chandelier taken down badly ends up worse than it was.

Do you work outside Bucharest?

Yes. For work from elsewhere in the country the piece usually arrives by courier, packed to our instructions. For large works, or fixtures that cannot easily be taken down, we travel anywhere in the country.

Can it be converted to LED without changing the look?

Yes, and it is one of the most requested jobs. We choose lamps with a warm colour temperature and a shape suited to the type of fixture, so the light stays as it was.

Is it worth restoring, or is a new one cheaper?

We will tell you honestly when it is not worth it. If the piece has heritage value, sentimental value or workmanship you no longer find today, it almost always is. If it is a badly damaged mass-produced fixture, we will say so.
